Prescriptions your patient
can actually read.

The High Court has said a legible prescription is a patient's right. Rx Pad lets you type yours instead — free for one doctor, and every prescription is printable and WhatsApp-able.

Two minutes: your name, clinic, mobile and medical registration number. Enter the code we send to your phone and your pad is ready.

The order

What the High Court said

In an order dated 30 August 2025, Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri of the Punjab & Haryana High Court, hearing an unrelated bail matter, found a medico-legal report that could not be read and issued these directions.

  1. 1

    A right, not a courtesy

The right to receive a legible medical prescription is a fundamental right under Article 21 of the Constitution.

  2. 2

    Until prescriptions are typed

Doctors in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are to write handwritten prescriptions in CAPITAL letters until computerised or typed prescriptions are adopted.

  3. 3

    A policy within two years

The governments are to frame a policy on computerised prescriptions within two years, including financial assistance to clinical establishments and doctors if required.

What it does not say

It does not make software compulsory today. Writing clearly in capitals is compliance too. The digitisation policy is for the governments to write, and it is not out yet.
